Bottom fishing in Málaga involves searching for species that live close to the seabed: areas of rock, gravel, and mixed seabeds off the coast of Benalmádena, where snapper, sea bream, whiting, brotula, red gurnard, and other fish take refuge. Using the depth sounder, we locate the rocks and changes in depth where the fish congregate, and lower our weighted rigs until they reach the bottom. Depending on the season and sea conditions, we fish while drifting, letting the boat move through the area, or anchored at a specific spot. It’s a technical but very rewarding type of fishing, ideal whether it’s your first time or you already have experience.

Drift fishing lets the boat move slowly with the wind or current, covering the area and increasing your chances of finding fish. Anchored fishing keeps the boat fixed over a rock or spot located with the sonar, ideal when the fish are concentrated in one place. In both cases we use multi-hook rigs with weights and natural bait such as shrimp, squid or sardine. Our deckhand will show you how to handle the rod, detect the bite and set the hook at the right moment.
